My elevator pitch

The problem we address is health disparities in Chicago neighborhoods. Residents in low-income African-American west side/southside communities like Englewood have a 60-year life expectancy while residents of white northside communities like Streeterville have a 90-year life expectancy. Target efforts like FQHCs, paying medical school loans to recruit doctors, and targeted health literacy campaigns work but health disparities remain high. Covid vaccinations in white and Latino communities are 82% and 61% in low-income African-American communities. Many low-income African-Americans do not trust health providers and need more than clinical services. FBOs as trusted community partners collaborating with providers to provide clinical, housing, education, jobs, childcare, and other services in low-income communities build trust and increase community working together on efforts that result in reduced emergency department visits, and increased numbers of residents with primary care physicians, annual wellness checkups, and individual and community health literacy. Faith 1 Network’s 8 FBOs and Insight Hospital impact by providing virtual healthcare, social services, and technology that easily links patients and providers can be expanded to include more FBOs, hospitals, CBOs, and low-income Chicagoans; to other low-income Chicagoland communities; and other parts of Illinois and the United States. Greg Robinson: The NASA Engineer Who Made the James Webb Space Telescope Work

Even on a team of 10,000 people working on a $10 billion project, one person can make a difference. And it’s not always the person you expect. You probably don’t know his name, and you wouldn’t know it by listening to him, but nobody on this planet had a bigger hand in Webb finally launching on Christmas last year than Mr. Robinson. He worked such wonders that his boss calls him “the most effective leader of a mission I have ever seen in the history of NASA.” SCIENCE OF SUCCESSThe NASA Engineer Who Made the James Webb Space Telescope WorkGreg Robinson turned a $10 billion debacle into a groundbreaking scientific mission. Every moonshot is the result of marginal improvements.Science of Success is a new column that aims to reveal the hidden figures, unlikely forces and market shifts behind the news as it aims to answer a big question: Why do people, companies and ideas succeed or fail? It’s an observatory so powerful it makes the Hubble Space Telescope look like a pair of binoculars. It’s currently 1 million miles away from Earth on a spectacular adventure in outer space. It’s part of a mission with the potential to change the way we think about life itself. But first the James Webb Space Telescope had to work. “There’s a huge distance between success and failure,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, the head of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, “and only a few actions that move you from one to the other.” The release of the first images from Webb next week will represent a groundbreaking moment for a project decades in the making, and the people most excited to see them are the ones who suspected they never would. Webb hovered much closer to the wrong end of the spectrum between failure and success for most of its existence. It cost so much and was delayed for so long that the mission was nearly canceled several times. But for all the scientific brainpower and engineering ingenuity devoted

bill Russell: greatest of all time

Shout out to his teammate and my coach, Thomas Ernest “Satch” Sanders, another great man   Bill Russell by main measures is the real GOAT. He’s the only top 10 player in history to start and end his career as a champion. Russell went out a winner, Jordan went out a Wizard. Russell is the greatest winner in team sports history. Not Brady, Bron, Gretzski, Yogi, Horry, Curry, Mike or anyone else can make that claim in history. The biggest reason players play is to win and Russell did that better than anyone else. In the end it’s not stats, awards, MVPs, Finals MVP, PER, analytics or eras that matter more than winning championships. If Russell’s career were in todays time he’d be the biggest brand with a shoe deal, logo, movies, commercials, and every kid would be rocking Russell 6’sand 11’s. Today’s goats have been manufactured. Russ ring count is something that can never be duplicated.
